CGFXII 130 Mimaki Problem

Postby Northumberlandlad on Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:41 am

Has anyone had a problem with one of these machines where it cuts 1mm out with certain files?

Ive got a graphic which is plain text and 4 mid sized pictures, its in EPS format and designed on my PC attatched to the plotter.
It has Registration marks set up in the design process, It is printed from the same file and then when put into the plotter it refuses to cut the graphic in the right place.
The file on the computer screen in Adobe Illustrator is identical to the physical vinyl graphic Im putting into the plotter so there are no physical differences between the file and the actual print as they are one and the same....but I can not get the * thing to cut it out without it being 1mm off!!!
Frankly im starting to loose my sanity and the engineers seem to be unable to do something about it!
PLEASE can someone suggest a solution before i take to the plotter with a 'fixy hammer'
Cheers in advance

Hi

If the system normally works as expected and the contour is accurate it would appear the problem is with the file. Cutters follow the instructions received they can't decide on their own to cut 1mm away from the origin point.

I would test with a new file just to make sure all is well, then using the original image and new text using a different font and test again....if all is well at this point, create the file again with the correct image, text and using the correct font.

Seems a strange issue but we had a problem years ago where a customer was unable to cut his name, when 2 characters in a certain font were used together it created a bizarre cut problem, the font had never shown any probs previously.

Good look
